Watchmen - 8/10

Really well made adaptation of the novel. The ending was actually even better because it's more concise - that artificial alien thing in the novel was a bit silly.

Oh, and Rorschach is just awesome.

G.I. Joe - 3/10

It's a run of the mill idiotic action movie cashing in on the recent cartoon/comic movie trend. I even went into this one without the usual hangups of being a fan of the original medium (e.g. big X-Men comic fan, hated the movies). Some of the action sequences were decent I guess =/

oic, I haven't seen either of those two. Were they major-ish roles or small parts?

never got around to sweeney todd, but in talledega he was the main antagonist (a gay frenchie who moves into nascar from F1?)

In talledega he is the main antagonist so not exactly a bit part.
In Sweeney Todd he plays Pirelli; which is a supporting role with a decent amount of screen time.

Demolition Man

Watchmen 6/10

Inexplicable use of songs in the soundtrack and the plot was all over the place - but it was still pretty entertaining.

28 Weeks Later - 8/10

saw that a few weeks ago and came to pretty much the same conclusion.
had zero expectation and ended up thinking it was pretty fun.
how do you fault a movie where they have a helicopter mincing enraged zombies?

Defiance = 5/10 - Not nearly as interesting as was promised and the plot was almost laughable in parts. I mean...this was supposed to be a "true story" and yet the "true story" hits every predictable plot point exactly on cue, turning this into a sham of a film.

Whatever chances these people's story had of being told was sold out to capitulate to moronic audiences in favour of the Hollywood "formula". A shame really.

G.I. Joe - 3/10

Feels like a 90s movie -- and I don't blame them for wanting to take it back to basics after level of inappropriateness and stupidity reached by Transformers 1 & 2, but this movie has nothing on Independence Day.

G.I. Joe = 0/10 - Dreadful on every conceivable level. So bad it gave me gas. Even the VFX - the only story telling element within 4000 miles of the script - were horribly done.

Anyone that thinks this movie was entertaining in any way, shape or form should be sterilized and kept under house arrest until their death....most likely from self-electrocution or sex with a horse.

Gran Torino

It's what Eastwood does best;
He sketches a scenario where someone, reluctant to do the right thing, *does* the right thing.
There's laughs to be had, and tears to be jerked.

Enjoyed it: 9/10

The part at his old lover's house dragged on for way too long. The rest of it was excellent though.

The Fall 9/10

The story of a paraplegic stunt man who tells a fantastical story to a little girl in a hospital as long as she steals morphine for him.
Incredible visuals with no special effects.

(by the same director who did The Cell. )
