Movies like Up and Wall-E give me hope that there are still imaginative and talented people making animated movies, despite the overwhelming amount of garbage (like Madagascar) being made.
Saw it saturday. Starts off brilliant but goes downhill fast once the talking dogs are introduced.

Zombieland = 7/10 - Hilarious (of course) but is way too slow in most parts. The sad thing is that the trailers gave away too many funny moments that should have been reserved for the movie. Definitely worth watching.

Star Trek has always been rubbish IMO, but this movie was fantastic. Far better than the last few turds Lucas squeezed out.

Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story 3/10

Done correctly, this could have had a larger impact than Sicko, but I thought it had holes. Challenging capitalism is tricky in this country. Too many of us are addicted. As a liberal, I had high hopes going in but saw the sizzle as crap. This movie will get the disenfranchised upset, but the material is over their collective heads.

Even the NYT did a better job with this recent piece on Private Equity Firms and the role they played in putting Simmons Mattress into bankruptcy. Great article - watch the videos.

This film is worth watching for the sound alone; but the story is great too, filled out by great acting, dialogue, sets, casting and special effects.

If you haven't seen this, I recommand against downloading it: lossy audio compression just can't do the sound justice. There's some great bass in this; if I ever get a cinema system, I'll be sure to try out the subwoofer with Dune. If only I had the space for one.

Surrogates = 6.5/10 - Interesting premise which (I think) punks the upcoming Avatar before its release. Not really exciting or very interesting but somehow comes off as entertaining to a point....albeit contrived and predictable. Bruce Willis was half-assed and had some good scenes but overall he couldn't carry this movie on his shoulders. See it if you're curious otherwise skip it.

havent seen it but the premise reminded me too much of blade runner. i also expect bruce willis to be a surrogate at the end whoashocker

Everyone is a surrogate...but that's established in the first 30 seconds.

Oh...spoiler alert.

surrogates - 3/10
gfy's right, bruce willis can't carry this movie (even with radha mitchell to help) and there are plenty of great ideas to work with but no-one capitalises on them at all. also loses points for the intro saying that *everyone* around the world uses a surrogate, putting it in the same hollywood mong territory as the matrix. feels like it had the wrong director and suffered lots of cuts before they even started shooting. on par with 'gamer' but not quite as awful. ..and the special effects were uninspired crap. i felt like a right odium when a couple of troop carriers appeared and seemed to be lit by a different light to everything else in the shot.

doghouse - 7/10
jake west is finally finding his feet. danny dyer plays danny dyer in a carry on/hammer crossover.

infestation - 7/10
enjoyable 'syfy' tv movie about a world cocooned by beetles. the lead is a likeable version of that whiny jap from transformers/the indie movie that everyone should pretend never happened and ray wise has lots of fun playing his survivalist nutjob dad.

g-force - 8/10
best kids movie in ages.

star trek - 6/10
live-action cartoon based on the star trek action figures. the next one should be better.

Inglorious Basterds: 7/10

I enjoyed the movie, because of what i had read before i was expecting the worse.
Few bad bits like the prolonged bar scene and i also argree that some of the bit actors were not very good.
Brad pitt did a great job as well as the Jew Hunter .. even Micky Meyers did well.

i laughed , i spewed chunks , i laughed some more

Went to my in-law's this past weekend. My wife's 16/f cousin picked the movies. :disgust:

21: 3/10
Man, what a bad movie. Uninteresting, predictable, terrible writing, bad acting... the list goes on...
The best role was the lead dork's nerdy friend. I gave the movie a few extra points for him and Lawrence Fishburne.

Amazingly, the other movie we watched -- New in Town (Renee Zellweger, Harry Connick Jr.) -- was better than this one.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen: 3/10 The Asian wet dream GIANT ROBOT CGI can't be denied. Unfortunately, every other aspect of this movie is shit...so much so that even the wacky tacky robot attacky seems utterly lifeless and bereft of impact.

First Contact was the only movie with the TNG cast that was worth watching. The rest were utter garbage...especially "Generations".
