You conduct yourself IRL as the sort of person who feels it necessary to carry a concealed weapon to INSTALL ALARMS. Although introspection is not your strong point so I can understand how you don't realize that's funny....YourGrandpa wrote:You don't like my persona or my opinions based on what you see here and that's fine. But that has no baring on how responsible I am or how I conduct myself IRL. The internet isn't reality. I can assure you, you're not man enough to say half the shit you say here IRL. As a matter of fact, I know you wouldn't have the balls to be as disrespectful as you are to my face. So don't try and pretend that you can actually know someone based soley on what you see here.HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:Your posts paint quite the picture. Gwamps carries his gun to protect himself from others who are carrying guns to protect themselves from him.

I don't "INSTALL ALARMS". I'm a Project Manager for a commercial electrical contractor. Part of my duties are to personally visit jobs to track job progress and attend pre-bid meetings for prospective projects. Those duties involve travel all over the state that sometimes takes me into areas that could be considered unsafe. Being that as it may, I find comfort in knowing that I could protect myself in any situation if necessary. I'm sorry if that doesn't meet your criteria for carrying a firearm.Geebs wrote:You conduct yourself IRL as the sort of person who feels it necessary to carry a concealed weapon to INSTALL ALARMS. Trolling in GD is a bannable offence.Dark Metal wrote:Gwamps carries his gun to protect himself from others who are carrying guns to protect themselves from him.
BTW, aren't you due for another cry relatively soon?

Do your clients like it when you show up armed?YourGrandpa wrote:I don't "INSTALL ALARMS". I'm a Project Manager for a commercial electrical contractor. i think you missed the 'concealed' part in 'concealed weapon'. iirc it's an offence to flash your piece around like a spaz without good cause
Re: So I bought a new shotgun...
All's I'm saying is, if I was a contractor I'd be more interested in taking a hard hat and a good pair of boots than a piece. That would seem to imply a fairly shaky understanding of risk....
I would love to see Gwamp's application for a concealed carry license, I hope it cites "negotiating with clients" as a reason

It's ok for you to abandon this discussion and go get involved in a conversation you know something about.

Re: So I bought a new shotgun...
I find it amusing how gramps gun theory has apparently shifted from family protection to self protection, using the same piss poor and slightly frightning arguments.

My family is an extension of me. It must be difficult for you to get through the day when everything has to be spelled out for you.Ryoki wrote:I find it amusing how gramps gun theory has apparently shifted from family protection to self protection, using the same piss poor and slightly frightning arguments.

I know this hard for you to understand and I want you to know it's ok. You don't have to be comfortable with everything that happens in this great big world. It is not your fault or mine that the United States gun laws are what they are. But the law of my land says I can carry and choose to do so. Can you get over that? I sure hope so.LawL wrote: The dumbass yank that feels the need to be armed all the time "just in case".

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that you're such a cliche'd stereotype.

Gramps, what would be the first thought in your head if you walked into your kid's school one day and saw the school principal drop his pen on the floor. Then when he bent over to pick it up, you saw a handgun holstered to his belt?
Or a bus driver?
Or the guy who delivers your pizza?
Or your congressman at a shopping mall speech?
Or the cashier at your local Safeway?
Or the courtesy bagger at your local Safeway?
Or the guy collecing shopping carts at your local Safeway?
No troll...just curious.
The reason I ask is because I'd personally feel uncomfortable almost instantly and weary of my personal safety if I knew an average Joe in my vicinity was packing heat (hell...I'm nervous when cops and armed security guards are around me...mostly because those people tend to let their guns do their thinking for them). In short, I'd feel the same concern for my safety if I saw a guy in my vicinity trying to light a cigarette while pumping gas into his car.
Perhaps some people bestow respect on others they see have armed themselves...but I am not in that camp.

Re: So I bought a new shotgun...
Don't be silly. Crazy, drugged up, armed people have a tendency to show up on my doorstep when I'm at work. Fortunately I have the skills to handle that and the confidence to do it without carrying a penis extension.YourGrandpa wrote:I've got those too.Geebs wrote:All's I'm saying is, if I was a contractor I'd be more interested in taking a hard hat and a good pair of boots than a piece

Re: So I bought a new shotgun...
And regarding my question to gramps I wish to clarify one thing before he types something retaliatory and skips the point entirely:
I'm not talking about feeling uncomfortable or weary of my safety around guns or armed people at a target shooting range/hunting. I've gone to the target range countless times, have gone hunting once or twice and NEVER felt threatened by the fact that guns are present. I respected the weapons - of course - but never felt fear. The people who bring guns to those events fully intend on shooting them at targets or prey.
The main difference that I see between people bringing guns to target ranges/hunting and people who arm themselves in society is that the people at the range/hunting have NO INTENTION WHATSOEVER of shooting other people around them. However, the reason I'd feel uncomfortable with someone who arms themselves in public is because that person could potentially have no hesitation of SHOOTING OTHER PEOPLE if the need arises (or doesn't arise...they just react and shoot someone). The very reason they carry the gun is to "protect themselves" by SHOOTING OTHER PEOPLE if they feel threatened.
So gramps...that's the background to my question to you from my previous post.
