40 fucking dollars for CSS Source (came with HL2) and DOD Source? Fuck what?

Or just buy HL2 Silver over Steam and get it all for $50 like I did a fucking year ago (I preloaded DoD:S, obviously haven't played it yet).

Uhm, the price of games in general isn't the issue here. It's that those two fucking games (CSS and DODS) are not worth a near full priced package.

It's price fixing to increase the appeal of Steam.

maybe.

steam in concept is actually a great idea, The same people that are fucking sitting there whining like little bitches about steam where the people Bitching about the big/late patches that steam released for HL1, thats what Steam was set out to combat.. and i must say they did a Good job, But they would have tested it a little longer to work out the abundant bug's.

all in all, its nice to have a 24hour turnaround for the latest cheat. Wouldent you think?

I honestly have no idea why people hate Steam. It takes the hassle out of patching your game. The only annoyance I've ever had with it is it took like 30 minutes to validate HL2 after it was unlocked after pre-loading.

Big fucking deal.

there should just be a sticky called "whinges about steam/hl2/valve etc" for all this complaining to go into

frankly $40 for CSS and DoD doesn't sound terrible to me, especially since i'm not interested in either of them

Steam would be great if it wasn't locked to a single game company.

Man, I'm a broken record. Sorry.

well, first of all, you're required to be online to use any steam product. not recommended, required.
secondly, it installs itself into your systray even though you're not using any steam product. like i really need another start menu which is also sending packets back n forth whilst just sitting there.

having to wait a minimum of 2 minutes before the game starts cause it has to "validate" again also makes no sense.
the times the steam server is down, you CANNOT play any of your games.

great stuff, indeed

All this to solve pirates and what did it do...

It delayed pirites using it for a week or so...

Big fucking deal. Now give me my used memory back that STEAM is taking up...

I have to say itsn ice how random it is. Just the other day I was texturing/modeling a texture and my computer suddenly halts. Then, when it slowly starts to come back, I notice i left steam open from a previous go and it was updating itself without even letting me know, eating up my system as it goes... My PC crashed a few moments later.

Score.

I dont mind HL2, great game. But what a POS steam is.

all completely untrue. steam has an offline mode. i have dialup and have never had any of the issues you refer to. just go into your steam setup/prefs/properties/whatever and change to offline mode. it DOES however stick the client in your systray, but big deal - it's just another reason not to clutter your systray up with other crap

The biggest problem I have with Steam is that if you feel like a quick game of Half-Life 2 before going to bed then you come out cheated because it'll take 15 minutes to get the game patches and ready to go.

THAT'S WHY YOU SET IT TO OFFLINE MODE. SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT

ffs how difficult is this concept to grasp?
