The server uses another point release. What was the exact protocol number you got?

*sigh*
This is because the servers you are trying to connect to are using older versions of Quake 3.
Try downloading the All Seeing Eye
http://videogames.yahoo.com/multiplayer
and then you can see what version you are connecting to.
The point release/version you want to connect to is 1.32, because the others are older, and you don't have them.
And get osp and cpma cos they are the shit
Sorry if this post wasn't the best but it's late and i can't be arsed to say anything more.
edit: didn't see your post mis

Network Protocols
A protocol is the "language" in which the server communicates with the client. If the server uses a differend protocol as your computer (the client) then you won't be able to connect to that server, since the server and client don't understand each other. You will be dumped back to the menu with a message "server uses protocol xx" where xx is the protocol number.
Quake 3 uses different network protocols depending on the point release used.
Point release->Protocol:
1.16

43
1.17

45
1.2x

48
1.30

66
1.31

67
1.32

68
(see the Mods, Point Releases & Utils thread for links to the latest point release)
Read the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) please.

You haven't installed 1.32 properly. Try again. Alternatively, pull down the console (~), check the version in the lower right corner and post it here.

I installed the q3pointrelease_132.exe to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Quake 3\
Isnt that correct ?

If that is where you installed Quake3 then yes.

It still says q3 1.27G! :\
Do I need to run the Quake III Arena Updates.exe ? Because it wont connect to download.. It says it found a file (Q3version.ini), but it wont start

Apparently, your Q3A isn't installed in C:\Program Files\Quake 3. Here's a solution:
1. Make a C:\Program Files\Quake 3\baseq3 sub-directory and copy the pak0.pk3 from your CD to it.
2. Run the PR 1.32 installer again.
3. Play.
Now don't tell me you don't have a legitimate CD or I'm going to get very angry with you.

Hmmm the default folder Quake 3 installs to is:
C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena
If this is the case then you should currently have two Quake3 folders. Can you check if this is the case?
If so uninstall the patch and reinstall to that location.
