Problems with Logitech G5?

Hi,

Has anybody had a chance to try out the new Logitech G5? I've found that it doesn't track slow/fine movements properly in Q3. It seems okay for normal and quick movements, but if you move it slowly, it doesn't move at all. If you try and navigate the menus, for example, it's really awkward. No amount of changes to sensitivity or cl_mouseaccel help. There appears to be some weird kind of bug. It works fine in COD, HL2 and the F.E.A.R. demo. Also works fine in Windows.

Anyone got any ideas, or has anyone tried it and not had a problem?

Thanks,

Andi

Odd. Try setting the /in_mouse console command from 1 to -1, then restarting the game or entering /in_restart

Interesting...

Yes, I had installed the driver suite. I uninstalled it to get my mx-500 to work again so that I could play a few games. After reading Foo's suggestion, I just tried plugging in the G5 without installing anything, and then used the in_mouse in_restart suggestion. It worked! So now, I'm not 100% as to whether it worked because of the in_mouse/in_restart or simply because I did not install the driver suite. I'll try re-installing it tomorrow just to see (I suspect this is the issue), and because I'd like to be able to change the DPI on the fly, but the default settings are just too extreme.

So, one way or another, it looks like it will be usable.

Thanks to both of you!

If you don't install the Logitech software, Windows will use the standard USB mouse drivers. Unfortunately, Logitech mice only work at half the resolution then (with the exception of the MX 518, I think).

Just a followup to this problem...

I found that if you install the SetPoint software, there's a setting in the game section of the software to use "OS Implementation" or "SetPoint Implementation" for speed and acceleration. It defaults to OS, and if you have any kind of acceleration set, it acts problematically in Q3. If you switch to SetPoint Implementation, the problem goes away.

Thanks again,

Andi
