CPU Temp

I have a pentium 4 3.0ghz cpu and in hardware monitor it shows that it is about 43 degrees celcius. Is this OK. I am not running anything else, jsut have the computer running, but no programs being used.

Is that how hot P4's normally run?
My Athlon XP never gets above 31 or 32.

We'll the newer revisions now run a little cooler, But yea, anyware from 30-~50 is normal for them.

It's fine for idle temps, a little high maybe but fine.
But idle temps don't matter worth a damn. You're PC isn't going to overheat while sitting idle if it doesn't overheat when gaming or something like that.
Check the temp during something that stresses the computer a bit. A 3D game, or something like Prime95 (

http://www.benchmarkhq.ru/fclick/fclick.php?fid=301 ) to really stress the CPU.
If yours is a Northwood core, load temps shouldn't exceed mid 50s, maybe 60 is okay. If it's a Prescott, load temps up to 70 or so seem normal.

I've a XP 2500+ OCed to 2090GHz, She gets up to 46 under load and idles around 39 or 40.
I don't think the Air flow could be any better through me case.

Depending on your core, P4s will run much hotter then Athlons. However I've found, at least from what I've seen, that Athlons vary much more between idle and load then P4s do. Hell if you have a Prescott core they can often run mid 60C and it isn't overheated

I have the same cpu and mines usually around 44c, right now its 49.5 ( just got done playing AOE though.) humm my 9800xt is 70c OooOoo
