I've decided on my parts list and the money I'm going to spend. It's going to run me about $1150 after the rebate on the RAM.

What do you guys think?

Motherboard:

CPU:

RAM:

GPU:

I was considering getting a 7800 GTX, but for over 100 bucks price difference, I decided I'd probably be happier with the GT. I don't think a GTX would make a big enough difference to make it worth it.

I'm going to order in the next half hour or so, but I thought I would post and run it through the gauntlet here to see if anybody had any thoughts or ideas.

:)

Looks good. Should play all upcoming games (with the exception of Unreal 3 games maybe). Are you getting better prices from those monarchcomputers than newegg?

Wow, when I priced it out, I thought Monarch was cheaper than NewEgg, but now that I've gone over it again after changes back and forth, it looks like NewEgg will save me about 22 bucks if I go with them.

Hey, that's why I posted it before I put the money down, right? :icon32:

edit: I've ordered through Monarch before, and on top of being reliable, they're a fairly small shop compared to NewEgg, so their orders get out almost immediately. If you ever need somewhere besides NewEgg to buy from, check them out.

I like small companies. Stick it to the big guys. :) If you want a nice fuzzy feeling inside that you're helping the small timers (even if it ends up 20 bucks more), I'd order from monarch. :D

Yea, they've gotten a lot of my business for that reason already. :icon32:

Well I wound up going with Monarch for two reasons, but one big one.

1) I obviously like their service since I've used them before.

2) Apparently NewEgg has opened a warehouse/store/center in Memphis, because they now want to charge me $106 tax for living in Tennessee. =(

It'll be here next week sometime. That should give me plenty of time to get a good Q4 benchmark on my old system before upgrading to compare. :icon32:

Ouch! They have had a warehouse in Tennessee for sometime, did not know they are trying to tax you guys now, that sucks. I hope they don't do anything in NC then
