Q4 Bug Thread

If you think you found a bug, post here so we can collect them.


I'll start off with:

Switch to window mode, then switch back, the refresh rate goes to 60Hz and the gamma is reset to default value. (ATI card)

that exact same bug is present in Quake 3, so I guess it's a driver issue.

Refresh rate has never gone to 60 Hz on the pc's i play(ed) Q3 on. Both nVidia and ATi cards have gamma reset problems when minimizing Q3 (desktop way too bright with nV cards, game too dark when returning with ATi).

I'm guessing Q3E Minimizer will work for Q4 too, as it works with D3 too. :)

ut is a directx game.. quake is an opengl game.
ati just doesn't know how to create good opengl drivers..
the directx drivers seem to be perfect.

Perhaps this is a OpenGL issue? Since DirectX is built for Windows.

in q3 you can force a refresh rate with r_displayrefresh xx where xx is 85 or whatever, so if you have that set, you won't get the bug that switches it to 60. does such a command exist in q4? i'd check right now, but i'm on the way out the door =p

haven't tried it much becuase i've got class, but when you kill yourself, your fragcount goes up... (at least in the warmup.. i'll try it online when i get back)

Well, read one of my threads that I had created. The game crashes to desktop at the level load screen at level 5.

yes the command exists and I am using it, yet still my refresh rate gets set to 60 after going to window mode and back to fullscreen.

I had a bug wile using the "Omega Drivers" for my ATI card. The menue and the HUD where very blurred. This can be fixed by using the original Catalyst driver.
Okay its ot really a bug of the game but its the only game where this happend

You should report it to the author of the Omega drivers if you're sure it's the Omega's that cause the problem.

Theres a bug with the hud where the numbers and some things get cut to early on the left side of the pic. Doesn't happen on the strogg hud.

For the 60Hz refreshrate thing, can't you just override the refreshrates in the "refresh rate override" part of the nvidia display driver thingy?

This is one fucked up bug.. every time i try TDM i have my team mates shooting at me..and all skins look like marines, but when i switch team to strogg this gets sorted.
I still see medic skins with regular colors running around...

Spoke to a few people and they said that the server cfg is not properly set.

I have no idea.. but there cant be that many noobs and colorblinds on EVERY tdm server.
It must be a bug of some sort.. because i see others that just joined our team blasting away on my team mates :dork:

I heard several ppl having this problem actually ...SO am I

Playing for some ramndom time...then game (wether its MP or SP) , crashes on desktop...without any particular error...leaving gamma all screwed..Using newest Nvidia drivers. SP2 windows.

MY PC perfectly ran DOOM 3...

Athlon 3200 64bit (@2.3) 300mhz OC
1024 kingston 333mhz 1- 512x2
GeForce6800 BFG OC (128mb)
Onboard sound
Soltek K8Tpro mobo(939) (such a shit)LOL...

Any suggestions...its really irratating. I hope its software problem.

I actually am using some third party tool to force the refresh rate in addition to the game settings, but still it somehow gets reset to 60Hz.

you can't strafejump up stairs.. well sometimes it works, but mostly you'll be stoped..
I guess the developers wanted to speed you up, when jumping downstairs, but didn't think of jumping upstairs.

the only fix i found for the gamma issue in q3(ati)was to have 2 binds for gamma.

it's a wierd issue. once it goes dark you cannot set it back to the value the game started at without first entering a different value.

so you make a bind with say 1.1(game startup value)and 1.2. afer coming back from windowed mode if it's dark you have to press the 1.2 bind before the 1.1 bind will take effect.

Everytime I try to use the "zoom / special weapon feature" button (MOUSE2 or MOUSE3) it crashes to desktop. Using latest ATI Catalyst drivers... and the Direct X supplied with Doom 3 CDs
