I'm not sure if this should go in TnT or not; but anyways:

I'm looking into buying this card; could any of you run Q4 at 1280x1024 @ High Quality with all the spiffy effects and bumpmapping on? I'd like to know the average frames per second this type of card would get.[/url]

what processor you chucking behind it?
Mine runs it well in 1024*768 everything high, not ultra.
It does suffer a little slowdown with lots happening, but thats to
be expected atm. I have invested in a new processor that should
be running @ 4000+ speeds when i have finished with it.

I'm happy with the performance, but i have cpu speed to back the
card up...

I can do this with my 6800LE pipemodded card... 90% of the time at at constant 60 fps.. some areas can go as low as 30 fps.. but its rarely.

I'll be chucking an Athlon 2600+ behind it.

You will not be able to run 1280x1024 with Ultra on that card and that CPU. Perhaps 1024x768 Medium would give decent results.

Alright, new plan:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814140045

Questions, however.
The 6600 has a 500MHZ clock, and a 1GHZ ram speed.

How exactly will the 6800 with 325clock/700ram run faster?

It has more pipelines.

I've a BFG 6600GT OC and an Athlon XP 2500+ OCed to around 2800 speed. ...and 2GB of RAM.

At 800x600 Medium detail the game runs quite well(esp. Single player, holds around 50-60 fps). Multiplayer, runs just as well with 6 or less palyers, but for the larger games 800x600 low detail is perferred.

I wound't get a 6800GT unless you also intend on a major upgrade in the next few months. And if that's the case you may even think about saving up a few more pennies and steping up even further with the 7800s.
With my 2500+ I feel even the 6600GT is being held back...

TNF: I've got maybe $200 to spare, not $320 : /

Bdw2: ahh, I doubt there will be any more upgrades besides RAM in the future, I'll probably OC the 2600+ and save the card for a later machine.

im running a 6600gt w/ 1024mb ram on a 3ghz and im running it on high quality @ 1024x768 and its locked at 60fps
tried ultra quality and it tends to stop for a split second to load. other than that great fps. visual quality isnt worth the little chugs though

My 2600+ limits me to ~58 fps, regardless of graphics card, resolution or detail level. You'll need a faster CPU if you want to have a steady 60 fps.
