Sound problems...?

Anybody else get random sounds just not playing sometimes?
For example, I was firing the GL, no problems at all, then all of a sudden the last shot just never made a firing sound... Noticed it a couple of times now.

Yes.
Whats your setup?
I have:
AMD XP 2500+ (underclocked from a 3000+, long story)
1GB RAM
Geforce 6800 GT 256MB
Soundblaster Live!
Basically, randomly, sounds cut out, repeat, or are delayed, and I havn't been able to find a fix yet. I've tried updating Soundcard drivers, to no avail. I've made sure my HDDs are set to DMA mode and not PIO. I have the latest Directx and Nvidia drivers.
Can't figure out the problem. My only other thought is that my CPU is struggling, thus causing dodgy sounds.

Ahh. Well, with a bit of luck someone will post a fix for us.
BTW, what kind of FPS are you getting with your setup? Mine is pretty bad (20 - 60.. and only 60 in tiny areas) considering my card, but my CPU is probably the bottleneck.

I've had a few weird missed sounds in single player and i'm an AMD 3800 (Venice) Dual, the problems was only in SP mind, MP runs brilliant.

Yes, same here. Sometimes I'm not sure my weapon is actually firing, so I have to stop/start. Quite disconcerting.
P4 2.4, 1Gb, GF6800. I'm using 800x600 medium settings.

Ok, I've found something regarding the repeating, non existent, and delayed sound that q4 pumps out (for some people).
Basically, for some reason, when I turn on V-Sync, these dodgy sounds stop happening, but unfortunatly I get laggy mouse movements with it on.
With it off, mouse movements are better, but these odd sounds keep happening.
Not sure why this is. A temporary fix (for me) none the less.
