Don't disable your firewall, that is a risk. Make a rule for the program within the firewall to allow it to pass.
What firewall, connection type and PC specs do you have?

Okay.
Go to the start button. Click on 'Run'. Then enter 'cmd' and hit enter.
A black box will come up. In this box type 'ipconfig /all'.
Then post the results from that in here (you can copy/paste the text out)
because if this comes up with the figures which I think it will, it *is* your router configuration. If it doesn't, then we've ruled it out.

Hey Foo, you remember when you told me how to set pc cillin for allowing ports? Well, how do I do it for allowing an ip address of a server I create? Is 'All IP addresses' in that box at the bottom of the image all that's required? And then just direct the Target box to the quake4.exe, right?

Go ahead and delete that - or at least the last half of your IP address.
You don't have a local net IP (192. or 10. etc.), which is probably what he was looking for.
You don't want your IP posted online.

It's just an IP address, everyone has one and getting hold of it means shit. It's DHCP too, so it probably changes every night.
Anyway, I think we can rule out simple Router problems from that post, as said you have a 'real' internet IP.

Well I know, but you don't really want your IP posted in the same place where you tell everybody exactly what kind of firewall/security software you run, as well as your OS and other system info. It's just not good practice.

so its my router problem? what kind of router would u suggest i should buy

No, since you have a real, external internet address, your router probably isn't doing any address translation, so the router probably isn't the problem.
Are you sure you don't have any other firewall/security software running? What about Windows Firewall?

No one can get a server list. The master server is down.
