Hi guys,
I bought Quake 4 one the day it came out, hoping to get into the game a.s.a.p. However, due to an unknown reason I cannot connect to any servers.

I cannot see any servers in the list either. I have Punk Buster enabled. My CD key is working, because when I go into the multiplayer options, and check the CD key, it checks through the internet, and I get the message saying it is valid etc.

I have tried everything, forwarding ports, restarting the modem, restarting the computer. So, because I cannot see any server, I found an IP address, with players in it from the internet and opened the console and typed “Connect IP.ADD.RE.SS:PORT”, and got the following responses:

On some other occasions, I have also got a message in there saying something like unwanted ticked received or something like that :S
I don’t think I can create a server which people can join, I tried this with a friend, and it failed. I also tried joining his “Private” server, and that also failed. (After 15 attempts, disconnects)

However, when I make one, which Punk Buster enabled on it, I get some more interesting information, to do with Punk Buster.

As soon as I open up Quake 4, in the console, here is some interesting information.

I have pinged all the servers with Windows Command Prompt, and I get a ping of about 42ms for all, so it is not a direct connect between me and the server. It obviously has something to do with the authorization or Punk Buster.
Another interesting thing is my connection, for some reason cannot connect to http://www.uac.edu.au, so I am thinking the authorization might not be able to access the server or whatever due to my connection. I have a Billion modem, with a 512/128 connection. To see if it is this, I will try and take my computer over to my cousin’s house, and see if I can see server/join servers over there.
I believe another person has something quite similar to me, so there is really no reason I should have created this thread, but meh.

You don't know how bad this is, I have been craving this game, talking to people telling me how much fun it is, and how it owns etc etc :icon23:

Help! Cannot connect to servers - Or see any!? :(
punkbuster doesnt really do anything until you connect to a server. It's probably a wierd router issue. Can you try directly connecting to the internet instead of through the router? If you can, and it works, then it's definately a router thing. Might want to try updating your routers firmware. http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11935
