I forgot the name of this thing for so long, and to my shame stuck with ASE.

HLSW - Free, fast, with awesome features above and beyond those of ASE or Gamespy.

Awesome stuff:
* Plugins for all your chat clients to automatically set away state + game information: http://www.hlsw.org/?page_id=35
* Support for tons of games (Quake 3, UT2004, HL2, Doom 3). Hopefully Quake 4 very soon.
* Scans your game directory for installed maps and tells you if you don't have the maps you need.
* Integrated RCON System

So... yeah.. Use it, it's awesome

ASE should have a one time fee, not an annual one. i paid once, that was enough.
