What do you guys use to organize your information?

I'm looking for a piece of software that allows me to organize a whole bunch of random information on my PC so I can quickly look stuff up in it. And by information I mean stuff like todo lists, lists of stuff I need to buy, school assignments, programmer notes and useful code snippets, etc.. Basically all of the stuff that you normally just throw in a textfile on your HD somewhere and then consequently never look at again.
I tried this (free) program:
http://www.evernote.com/en/
(screenshots:

But I don't really like it. The node structure is a nice way to categorize notes and it supports some advanced formatting (you can copy&paste HTML into it and things like that) but the way it actually orders and displays the notes isn't really what I'm looking for because it mostly bases all its sorting on chronological order whereas I'm more interested in giving each note a name and being able to pick them from a list.
Anyone have any experience with similar software?

Did you think it was worth the $29.95 you paid for it?

pfft. I'm on day 20 of the shareware reminder, and I think after that there's a nag screen. It's pretty good, maybe I'll consider registering a copy.

Outlook is my favorite one-stop-shop for info like that. Calendar and/or Tasks for to-do lists that will pop-up reminders for you, Contacts for all your peoples, email obviously, Notes for random things you don't want to forget... And, if you like, there is the Outlook Today that compiles it all on one page you can look at each morning that will tell you what's on your list for that day - or the week or whatever.
It's extremely configurable.

Greatest tool of all once you get to know all the functions.
I think that is the most common agenda used in companies.
It even has an alert function to remind you something months later with a note pad and calendar
