I downloaded this demo because it's one of the first Quake 4 demos with a pro featured in it (mikes, a pretty good Russian Quake III guy), but when I play it back there are several problems.

The walls are basically extremely dark grey. The items are invisible. And tons of sounds are missing. The demo was recorded on Edge.

When I exited the demo and tried to load the same map on a listen server, it worked fine. All graphics and sounds were back to normal. Also, all my other demos still work fine, even the ones on that map.

Maybe it'd be good to note that I updated to the October 20 release of the Forceware drivers (81.xx), but I don't know if that has anything to do with it, since everything else seems to be working fine.

I get the same thing as you and I have an ati card, also I tried to make a server after watching the demo and I had my name as that guy Zod. and punkbuster was giving me some violation crap. However because it was so dark, I was getting a constant 63 fps.

No problem here, everything was fine. For some reason, the config seemed to change a bit when it changed from the first match to the second, like the lighting was different. Also, what was that noise like a generator? I thought someone was pressing the gauntlet key. And that mikes is really good.

dark grey textures to me...but playnettimedemo demo009 nets me 136fps...so i'd like to know how to mess with it on purpose, lol! i let it run for about 3 or 4 mins in fast forward before i hit esc and checked the console for the 136...tasty, lol

The textures are still extremely dark in this demo. Seriously guys, this is weird. And so many sound effects are missing. I have no idea what's going on.

And Drum -- yeah mikes is pretty good. There are a ton of great players from Russia/Asia, but many Americans don't know any of them but Cooller because they tend to think that ZeRo4 or czm or whatever is just the end-all-be-all Quake player. Those guys are definitely great. No mistaking that. But there are some awesome Russians too. In fact, there's by far more Quake III activity in Russia than any other place I know of.

Cyberfight.org has always been the place to go to if you want to keep up with the Russian scene. That's how I know mikes, actually.

I think there are more Polish Q3 servers than Russian ones? Q3 is really played a lot in Poland too. I know Russia has some great Defraggers and also some RA3 players (Poland has the CPMA players of course).

Isn't anyone having this problem?
