5.10a refresh rate problems

Does anyone else get refresh rate problems with 5.10a? Now I know the driver comes with control center, however the control center is complete crap and uses too much space/ram. Still even with the Control center I have problems with setting a refresh rate for games. Sort like the old 60Hz refresh rate problem with older catalyst versions. I tried using the control panel from 5.10 & 5.9 but I still don't get the option to force a certain refresh rate like I do with 5.9/10.

It seems that any control panel when used with 5.10a is outdate, because it's missing a bunch of options. I wonder why.

Half-Life2 seems to run on the proper refresh rate but other games like Quake2 default to 60hz and it hurts my eyes. I cannot seem to find a command to force a certain refresh rate for Quake4 I used +r_displayrefresh "85", it's a real pain in the ass.

I tried using Omega based on 5.10a and it worked, however they are much slower then 5.10a, they install a bunch of crap all over my system and extra tools which I don't need. Also on the site it says a new release is coming because there is something wrong with them. Also after installing omegas they fucked up all the quake4 menus/console I get some odd shit instead of text like and errors in the console. Any idea what I can do, I really want to use 5.10a.

Notice that it's missing the refresh rate force that comes with 5.X drivers and DDC on/off makes no difference. Anyway to force Quake2 to use a certain refresh rate? Don't think there is a command I tried looking. :(

DISABLE "Use DDC information". General rule for ATi cards. :)

Quake 2 doesn't have have a cvar for refresh rate but i recommend to use the EGL client; it makes Q2 look nicer (not as crappy as FuhQuake or something like that) but still quite the same as the original. Much handier GUI as well. Quakedev seems to be offline now though but i highly recommend using EGL to play Q2. :(

I have disabled it and enabled it and messed around with different refresh rate things at the bottom it has no effect! Just tested it 1 more time and again no effect. :(

Is there a version of this driver without CCC? I'm not installing that junk.

Not for 5.10a, there better be a Control Panel with 5.11. 5.11 beta have it but they are shit and don't have the opengl fix.

Try ATi Tray tools (the refresh lock function). You could try Powerstrip too. That prog really has the most vidcard/monitor finetuning options

There usually is a download with the old cp, I just hope ati continues to support it.

Thnx, I'll give RefreshForce a shot since it doesn't appear you have to run it all the time and I hate having extra crap running.

Excellent :icon14: RefreshForce works well. :)

EDIT: Admins, I know this is more T&T but I figure new peeps will have similar problems and this is the first place they will look at for Quake2/4 help.

EDIT2: Just realized something, Omega drivers did not mess up Quake4. I had removed zpak_english.pk4 because I thought it was one of the maps I downloaded. My bad.
