Quake 4 Mapping Tutorials

I've had a Google and not really found any good resources for Quake 4 mapping yet. I found some Doom 3 sites, but even a casual look suggests that quite a lot of stuff is different, even basic stuff like making an object hang in mid air rather than falling to the ground.

Are there any good Q4 resource sites up and running yet? I've visited the links available on q4world.com's Wiki.

Anyway, so far I've worked out how to do rectangles! I can do a bounce pad and a teleporter, but my teleporter only teleports me, not my rockets. =) Still trying to work out how to do an angled wall, floor, pipe etc. O_o

Doom WADs were easier. =/

doom3world.org

billions of "how-to"'s on doom3 mapping, which is basicly the same thing as quake4.
There's a subforum for q4 aswell.

Cheers. I did look at some Doom 3 articles, but some of the things that they said to do didn't appear to exist or work in the Q4 editor. I'll have another look though.

I love this forum. There are a lot of helpful people here.

I have been to ESreality forums and all they do there is make fun or call each other names hehe.

Well, we do plenty of that too, LOL.

But there are plenty of members here who don't mind helping people as long as they put forth a little effort to help themselves, and aren't asshats about demanding things.

T&T is one of the most helpful forums anywhere IMHO.

This evening, I have learned how to make diagonal walls, slopes, stairs, and holes in walls that lead to new rooms.

All I need now is a good idea for a map and I'll be awaheyhey!

Very Well said!

I like doom3world.org as well. I learned how to map in D3 and make a few rooms
but lost interest when I didn't have any ideas. !!!!! DOH!

Thanks for the link Fjoggs.

tons of fun multiplayer map ideas ..lack of time.
plus .. in quake4 you would be laughed at for making flat walls like most of my maps so 10 times more work is involved.

but man .. we can and i am make some really sweet maps though.
