I didn't see this posted anywhere but ASE has finally updated for Quake 4. I had a little problem not being able to install the update wouldn't let me click the install button. If you have that same problem just hit enter.

It doesn't really appear fully updated for Quake 4. I updated my copy, then did a "Refresh" with Quake 4 selected, and nothing much happened. I've added some servers manually, and it works for those, but I haven't got an up to date list from the master yet.

Where do I download the correct version of ASE? Mine is version 2.3.5 pre-yahoo and when I click 'update eye' it says it couldn't establish a connection to a scanner.

Yes, it's quite sad.
ASE support for games has been horrible. HL2 support is still lacking anything but bare-bones queries after almost a year since the game came out.
And, ASE won't launch WeaponsFactory2 for HL2. It just barfs up an error instead.

TBh it's down to the people who paid for ASE, I wasn't one of them.
it's introduced me to the wonderful
http://www.kquery.com anyway, so no complaints.
Paying for software sucks, if you're relying on it for speedy updates and dont get them, what are you paying for?

riddla wrote:I just tried kquery with Quake III, it didnt find half the servers ASE did by comparison, and only one of about 5 known LR server show in kquery. No thanks.
I dont know why, but kquery only returns 1000 results from the master server, and no more. Sadly, I can't find a setting for this, it might be on the master server itself.

riddla wrote:Well, I paid for ASE back when it was a lifetime license so I'm not completely out of place for wanting it to work properly with one of the few games I play.
I did the same with gamespy3d almost 9 years ago.
Although I shouldn't complain much about 9 years for $20, only the first couple of years were worth it. After ~Quake3, gamespy added features to Gamespy Arcade and THEN belatedly added them (if ever) to gamespy3d 1-2 years later.
LIFETIME should be at least 5 years of decent support. I could accept that.

I finally got the yahoo version of ASE installed and updated with quake 4. I also dumped that list of servers into my ASE server.txt that Foo posted. It now pings and refreshes 1,451 servers which is good, yet oddly, it only shows a handful of low ping servers in any category and they're pretty much all empty servers. Conversely, Echelon shows lots of low ping servers in all categories with lots more activity.
