Fov and allowconsole wont stick?

this is getting very annoying to say the least.

i've put the commands in, and played.. but once i restart, they are gone.

i've manually placed them into the quake4config, saved the changes, dubble checked.. started quake, worked.. then exit and try again, no go.
Made an Autoexec with the commands in it, Started quake, No go.

the only way that i can get them to stick is to put them into a shortcut for the quake 4 exe, is this normal?!

another way is setting up your config then making it readonly :P

Just put the + console crap into your shortcut, and point ASE/Gamespy to THAT shortcut..

FOV, no idea why thats not sticking.. your cfg set to read only?

No, its not, and i've tryed to set it to read only. But at times i feel as though its ignoring the command.

simply put, when i put the CVAR in , it saved.. it worked for the first game, but after that no go.

and the command is still in the CFG.

The only way I've been able to get it to work was through the shortcut too.

I have the allowconsole and fov in my autoexec.cfg and it sticks just fine. Never made my autoexec.cfg read only either.

maybe it has something to do with the fact that it reloads the VM twice before actually joining a server

at least that what happens to me. i now have ctf, dm and arena mod dirs in my q4 root :/
