Up until this point I’ve not really cared about the new Xbox 360. Now with getting a new house I think I should get a new games system. I’ve heard all types of rumours about what it does but I can’t find a good review/preview with the facts. Like, can it record TV, etc. Help.

Makes fucking sense dunnit. I'll have to buy Sky+ now.

Someone's just told me there's also a rumor of a £100 price drop.

rumors indeed.
im pretty sure theyll keep the 299/399 packages (the 299 package being the marketing stunt that sucks anyways)

It won't be able to record TV, but you will be able to use it as a MediaCenter client. You can watch recorded TV/HD/DVDs from your MediaCenter server. At least the current gen Xboxes can do this. I wonder if it is practical w/o a HD for a local buffer. With the ammount of system RAM the 360 has a physical local buffer probably isn't necessary, except for maybe HD streams.

So. I have a PC with XP SP2 and a Xbox 360. How and what do i need to record TV?

I'm not positive, but I don't think XP Home or XP Pro will allow you to use an Xbox (1st gen or 360) to act as a MediaCenter client. You need XP MediaCenter edition to record the shows. Then boot your Xbox w/ the MediaCenter client DVD and browse your network for shows. Again I really don't know. Where's G}{? He's got MediaCenter up and running, but I'm not sure if he has an Xbox or not.

from xbox.com:
Make the connection, and Xbox 360 instantly streams the digital media stored on your MP3 player, digital camera, Media Center PC, or any Microsoft® Windows® XP 2005 Edition-based PC

Why don't you upgrade that POS PC you're always complaining about?

I think a new house needs a new computer.
