I can host a 30 - 200 person LAN event for Quake 3, in the area of Pittsburgh, PA. If you would be interested in attending, then let me know :)

In your reply, please, tell me about what mods you'd want the server(s) to support.

Wouldn't be too far for me but I doubt I would come. Any chance you will be providing free strippers?

bitWISE: From what I've seen, it's mostly guys who attend LAN parties. Of course, if you and one of them are into that sort of thing :paranoid: then you can go to your car for a private lap dance, and I'll let you both back into the event, afterward.

ToxicBug: Yes. It's free entry. I'll charge about $25, each, for the two days' worth of the air that you'll breathe, though :p

losCHUNK: I'll pay up to $300 of your travel expenses, and charge you a special rate, reserved only for you, of $325 (cash) for the event :icon25:

He's new to whole forum.

What i'm wondering is why someone would invite a complete bunch of strangers to a LAN.
I smell an ambush.
I smell a bad attempt at organizing a lan..

Heres the deal.. Set a date, set a price, advertise it, announce tournys, and get some shit prizes..

Make entry low so you only make back what you put into it.. provide pizza and pop, and snacks..

there.. get started..

I don't blame you for having concerns. I've heard horror stories about private gatherings, in some guy's garage, where nothing worked, people did illegal drugs and other such activities, etc. :paranoid:

These are not events held in some garage or basement.
The locations are safe, secure, and supervised.
They include hotel conference rooms, fire halls, and community centers.

I have yet to host a 100+ person LAN event. I have the knowledge, finances, organization, and help to do it. This is not a one time deal. If I want to hold these on a regular basis, I need to make sure that every one goes away happy. So, that means making every thing run smoothly, from the facility's electricity (i.e. not overloading circuits), to the server, to the switch(es), organization of tournaments, good food and drink, etc.

Why am I doing it? ...because more players equals more fun, and because I can :icon31:
Several months back, I received a lump sum sufficient to allow me not to work at a regular job. I am not rich, but I found myself in a position of being able to do what I like, not what ever it takes to pay the bills. These LAN events are part of what I chose to do.

If you're still not convinced, then take a look at my website.

It's a work in-progress, but you should find enough information to help alleviate some of your fear.
