I love Quake 4... the only disapointment is the performance of the multiplayer. I just got Call of Duty 2 and with dx9 settings on with everything at max except shadows (same setting as i use in quake4)... the multiplayer in call of duty 2 doesn't drop below 45 fps. The maps are alot more impressive and feature more effects. Please Raven/id... optimize the mp, the performance is terrible. I need my quake4 multiplayer without dropping below 20 fps. :icon23:

Obviously your computer sucks and you have no idea what you're talking about comparing Call of Duty 2 to Quake 4 (two completely different engines)

turn off itemshadows, it helps

also get a better cpu - mp is very cpuheavy

Eraser... I suggest you compare the two. COD 2 is drying many more polygons/effects/dynamic lights etc. No way the Quake 4 performance should be that bad.

CoD 2 = GPU intensive
Q4 = CPU intensive

You may be right... but just compare the two.

The geometry in the Quake 4 mp levels is almost laughable... the performance is unacceptable. The sp game runs fine... no way the mp game should chug so bad. I am not the only one that thinks this.

Its fine, the maps are designed for fun rather than competitive play and everything else including performance is ~satisfactory.

Then again, satisfactory for Quake4 is not acceptable :p

Its going to turn out great though, some cool maps being made and re-made. A few patches and comeptitive mod upates and it will own.
