Apart from the fact of the legal gray-area that nocd cracks exist in, punkbuster doesn't nescessarily check if it's a nocd crack or not, it checks if the quake4.exe has been modified. If Q4.exe has been modified, then that could imply it was altered to incorporate cheats. PB is retarded 90% of the time but IS there to help you.
The problem here is possibly not that YOU are in the wrong, but the SERVER. The server may be running a modified .exe, possibly German (Have we looked into the exe and if its the same, or if its like the other files?), possibly cracked for nocd play (Which should come out of the box anyways. Thats what a CD Key is for damn it).

If the nocd play crack patches the quake executable then this would be detected,as would a virus infecting .exe files.
MD5tool is an add-on that the server admin chooses to use. It is not enabled by default. Few admins use it.

PB has been quite a flaky app in the past but, so far, in Q4 I've been quite impressed. It doesn't lag my system when updating and I haven't seen too many errors posted yet. The one question I've got is when in the fuck did the devs decide it was a good idea for PB info to be printed in large text in the middle of the screen?!?! That's one thing I would like to see changed in a patch. The chat area is off center left and down a bit isnt it? Near enough center to get in the way?
