This was a bit disturbing:

Fun stuff, apparently people are using this rootkit to hide hacks from PB and similar anti-cheat programs. But nothing confirmed yet (as far as I'm aware of anyway).

They used it to cheat on World of Warcraft. I don't see why they couldn't use the same meathod to beat PB.

as far as some of these CD's go (Switchfoot's for sure), you cannot play the music on any other media player other than the one that's on the CD.

not sure what you mean... unless Symantec's legal team lets them classify it as a virus, it will only be picked up by the apps with "threat protection"
Norton*.* is not one of them.

so you're saying that no other antivirus company can legally classify it as a virus? that's what i meant by "one week" is that the rest of the companies will be doing the same and Symantec can't say that it can only be detected by them.

ah... must be the wording...
they're only saying that it will only be detected by their products that support threat detection. (ie, not just AV)
i know trend micro will also clean it, but also its classified as a "threat" not a "virus"
heh, interestingly its been boosting sales of client security... shit like this has been making companies paranoid, since any employee that stuffs a music cd into a computer on the network is now capable of causing issues.
