...fucking fantastic level.
I've been spinning through a stack of Quake 3 levels I never got time to look at properly (learn the level layouts by heart, and play a real live deathmatch on) and this one really stands out. As for comparison to the original level (Aerowalk for Q1), it's hard to say. The layout is very close and the abundance of teleporters feel very Quake.
Not sure I like the red armor position. I know why it's there, but it still seems fudged.

great map. the ra placement seems weird, but it leads to some great fights on those stairs and around that tele at the green armor.
if you haven't seen the demos of czm OWNING BITCHES on that map,
get them
ed: there's also a cpma demo of Vo0 vs a|cujo there... like schizophrenics on meth. D:

It is good, but Hub's Remix II (cpm22) is even better, IMO, especially if you play it in CPMA.

That is a popular map. I know most of the jumps on it, heh.

yep, czm obliterates opponents on this map. absolutely amazing control.

I like cpm22 better too, but getting to RA would be a bit hard in VQ3.
Surprising you weren't aware of the calibre of this map though, Foo.

czm vs z4 demos of last year's Qcon sucked ass though (boring).

What do I need to view those demos? OSP and baseq3 didn't seem to do it. I got a bad trap call about 5 seconds in.

ummm... weird. they're osp. you have the same version of the map?

I don't think czm has ever lost on this map

he either lost or had a really close game in an online tourney right before eswc... it was called SADNA, but i'm not sure if there are demos posted.

Last year's czm vs cooller was an amazing demo.

Lol, I watched qcon live on gtv when czm pwned cooler about 50-9.
I personally find hub quite hard because of the amount of teleports which I haven't a clue where they all come out. It's definitely the thinking mans map.

I guess if 1v1 players play this map so "often" they don't even have to think anymore as to where the enemy spawns after a tele... After playing some CTF maps with teles I don't have to think about it either (CTF map is easier because of the symmetry as opposed to a tourney map like Aero or Bloodrun).

i hope it had a closer score than the one i watched. ended like 37 to 3 or something. amazing to watch him own the crap out of someone like that, but a closer match would be most excellent.

:/ It wasn't that close at all (I think it's the demo Drum also mentioned) but this was at Qcon2004 and I believe it was the quarter or half final, so the top 8 or 4 players were still left, and the difference was so big... That was what amazed me.

check cached! there aren't that many hub demos, so it's pretty easy to find them.

It confused me too before. You just need to walk around it on your own once and pay attention carefully how you can travel around the map with the teles. There are two 1-way teles in there and one 2-way tele (RL-RG). Practice all the paths once by imagining you want to intercept someone you're chasing.
It's better to do this once than to play it dozens of times without knowing where you're going.

wanna have fun? walk backwards into that RL/RG tele and just hold +back. you'll just keep popping in and out of the tele on either side. good for a quick shot & escape.
