Increase in new players is the root cause. That, and some of the maps actually encourage camping (lost fleet).

Yes, very annoying. I fought one guy the other day on FragYard1v1. He went straight for the rail and stood on top of it and didn't move from that spot for the rest of the match. He just sat there and railed me over and over and I couldn't do anything.

I prefer to call it ambushing, which is an intrigal part of war. I have no problem with it. I am not a camper but my son is and he is effective doing it. But, we play just for fun, since its a game.

Its the maps fault.

lol - if I could get a serious session going without the game freezing for a hard reset I wuld probably have more chance of spotting the camping

wth was id thinking giving this game to a bunch of people that never played a quake game in their lives..

even if they did play a few seconds...where did they get their inspiration from while making this pos? obviously not ANY quake game.

this isnt even good enough to be called unreal tournament...seriously. i played a game of ut2k4 a few days ago and thought...when did the physics in this game get so damn good? but i had been trying to play q4 before that...back to WoW i guess.

sad when diehard fps fans want to play an rpg over quake.

If you can't beat up on a guy that camps the entire round they you fucking suck pretty bad, sorry dude.

Campers are the easiest players to destroy.

Heh well I alrdy postd about how terrible I am. But I couldn't get close to him. He hit almost every single shot, so there was really nothing I could do.

There is no way I would allow a player to spend their entire time in one place. Look, try flicking a few rockets around corners where you know he is camping. If he just sits there all day, that will force him to retreat to a different location. Try going via an alternate route. Grab plenty of health and armor before meeting him. Once you get him to jump off his little nest ledge, attack him with all you got.

Well I tried that lol. Soon as he got the rail the match went something like this...
Spawn RAILED step step jump RAILED respawn step step RAILED step RAILED respawn getsWeapon RAILED gets health peeks around corner RAILED respawn step step RAILED. It went on like that for 7 mins. Since am a noob i didnt know how to fight back.

Quake 2 had the biggest campers ever. It was funny at the beginnig but it got old after ppl just spawned camp.

I remember the Warehouse in Q2 had some decent camping locations. Great sniping roosts from top of the map straight to the bottom..!! :icon26:

thats the one I am talking about since thats all I played on fraggin fiesta was q2dm8 24/7. I use to be {nVa}xman

If you play someone who is good enough, its not real hard for them to camp rail, snag the armour and just rail all day long on frag 1v1....

I've never had a problem with Campers.

When it comes down to it, you can't really blame someone for doing anything that's legal in the game. If someone wants to camp, they can camp regardless of what you think about it. The same goes for using weapons like the BFG. Sorry if you don't like how someone plays, but if they aren't cheating, they're allowed to employ any strategy they see fit and it’s your job to counter act that strategy.

Its lame, but it can get you the win if done at the right place and time.

rofl, I remember playing ffa on Q3DM4. There was this noob blatantly flaunting that he was a camper by calling himself 'HAPPY CAMPER', religiously walking up the stairs to the rocket launcher bridge and staying there all game firing rockets ahead at anyone coming up the stairs. Of course, he got fragged a lot but kept on returning to his spot. Needless to say he never won a game. But it was quite funny. :icon26:
