Final version (See History)
Released 10th December 2005

With many leagues now running Quake 4 CTF ladders there is perhaps a need for standard CTF FPS maps with weapon / item / powerup / spawn placement unchanged from id software / Raven defaults.

http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Quake4/f ... s-maps.zip
http://www.savagefiles.com/q4/uc-ctf-cl ... s-maps.zip (Mirror)

This map pack is based on Drach's excellent FPS CTF pack, while the FPS enhancements have been left in place all weapon changes, spawn changes and powerup changes have been reverted to the original id software / Raven defaults by UpsetChaps.

The following bind may be of use for finding the best compromise between FPS and lighting.

bind o "toggle r_lightDetailLevel 0 3 5 7 9;addChatLine 'LightDetailLevel';addChatLine $r_lightDetailLevel"

The updated maps appear with default thumbnail pictures and [UC] prefixed to the original name:

[UC] FPS Heartless
q4ctf1uc

[UC] FPS Death before Dishonor
q4ctf2uc

[UC] FPS Speedtrap
q4ctf3uc

[UC] FPS Relativity
q4ctf4uc

Thanks to everyone in the Savage and Respawned community for playtesting and feedback

History
10.12.2005 - Final: Fixed thumbnail image sometimes missing for Relativity. Name of pack and maps changed at Drach's and Clanbase's request.

23.11.2005 - Version 2 (Test): Spawn points also reverted to id software / Raven defaults

21.11.2005 - Version 1 (Test): Weapon changes and powerup changes reverted to id software / Raven defaults

IMPORTANT: If you have any previous test versions of the UpsetChaps' CTF FPS map pack ( ctf-drach-UC-mapsv2.zip, drachUCctffpsv2.pk4, drachUCctffps.pk4, ctf-drach-UC-maps.zip ), please remove them from your server and download site. Note *UC* in the filename, do not remove Drach's original CTF map pack by mistake.

Thanks for the positive feedback Drach, keep up the good work.

Did you want the map pack renamed?

Dr4ch did you get my reply. I trust this is sorted now?

Thanks again for your map pak. It's a shame therefore that item placements and additions were made to your map pak or we wouldn't be here at this point now!

It's a Savage Universe out there!

Sorry that I didnt came up to you earlier but I am so busy with x-battle right now, so i didnt realize the problems that would happen if my nick is in the filename.
It would be the best if you change the name to something without my nick, credit in the readme is enough for me.Classic ctf pack would fit good imho.Look at the tmp pack for example, Its not named drachtmp either. I really understand there was no bad intention but it has lead to confusion among some people.

Now I can look how to tell those turkish people here that they have to replace and not add the file when you rename it.and There surely are some more mirrors I dont know of :(
So I hope you rerelease them with another name so people dont get confused anymore, thank you.

Hi Dr4ch

Do you mind if I rename them when season 1 of Savage's Q4ACTF League finishes as we have new players joining the present clans in the league?

After the season has finished I promise I will get them renamed. I'll end up asking Req if he's ok with that to do the changes as it will require that the maps themselves get renamed as well as the map pak :)

You ok to do this Req? Actually when ever you've got time from now would be great I just won't release the pak until the end of the season!

Drach, LJ,

I'll repackage/rename the maps for an official release and notify all the major news sites. They are only being used by Savage at the moment so the sooner we put an end to any confusion the better.

'Classic' sounds good =)

EDIT: 7pm reached, I've published the revised/renamed map pack.

Drach, before I release the final pack I thought I would forward the readme. Please let me know if you wish to have changes made. I'll release the pack ~6pm UK time today (10th December 2005)

I just want to state that its partly my fault that it happened like this :(
I was so busy doing things that I had not thought about consequences enough, I have even seen the the release of the map pack and even replied! but it didnt come to me it would make problems.Sorry to all people involved as I know everyone just had good intentions and I must bitch about being creditet "too much" ;(
anyway the Problem has been solved now and I think we all learned from this. In the near future we will laugh about that. Now you know why some developers are so conservative about some things sometimes; it simplifies stuff ;)

Drach, there's no need for you to apologise, I think we’ve all learnt from the experience =) I certainly didn’t want to cause any confusion, only to help.

Keep up the excellent work!
