I started getting a weird error message..something about md5 and crouching.. that wouldnt let me play sp or mp, so I reinstalled the game..

after 2 tries I finally got it reinstalled and and the second time the quake4.exe was actually installed with the rest of the game files.

I re-patched the game, but my game doesnt show the patch number when I drop the console, and I can only get 1000 servers in the browser.

the patch .exe file wont let me reinstall the patch because it keeps telling me the patch has been installed and there is no reason to patch the game again.

what is wrong with this piece of shit?

You could just get the files the patch installed/updated from someone you know and manually place them, I have 4 Quake4 installs on my PC, and what I did for the remaining 3 when I found it wouldn't let me apply the patch again, was just work out which files were added/changed during the patch install, copied them over to the other installs, no problems. I kept the required files in a zip(13.3MB uncompressed), if you want them I could send them, of course I understand if you are hesitant at receiving files from someone you don't know, but the offer still stands.
