Love companies who milk money out of people and never give good support.

I don't think the product is being killed out of spite. After all it's fairly mature so shouldn't require too much development to be kept up to date.

My impression is that if the programmer (Ecks) knew how to fix the Q4 issues, he would have done so by now. After all, he can't be enjoying the negative comments the product is receiving.

Unfortunately, the staff on the ASE forum are probably too low-level to provide a constructive response to your complaints. I suspect you'd get a better outcome by directing your comments to someone slightly higher up within Yahoo's management structure.

Obviously tracking down the a suitable manager in Yahoo and writing a note might take a bit of time but if you feel strongly about the product, you have nothing to lose.

Your feedback might also be helpful to Yahoo as:
a) having a better product should improve subscription revenues.
b) they can address issues which are causing their brand to be viewed negatively.

What exactly is the problem with ASE & Q4? I've noticed that absolutely no server show up in ASE for Q4, but I thought that was just me. Is this the problem?

Well I was going to have to figure out how to retrieve my old account info from 5 years ago, but it sould like that would be pointless now.

That's just wonderful news.

How much did they pay to buy ASE to begin with?
(sorry, haven't had time to read any of the threads you linked yet)

Nono, if your going to go to slashdot you need something like.

"ASE forum banning, cracking down on freedom of speech.
Blah blah blah
blah blah blah
Microsoft may be involved in an attempt to crush the oss/fs community
blah blah blah"

No it has to be something more sensational, like

"Yahoo competing with Micro$oft in taking over small companies and killing them"

or something to that effect. :)

Sad to see. I bought an ASE lifetime membership years ago and when I heard it got bought I knew it was bad news.
It's too bad the people that had faith in it (not the previous owners who took the cash and ran/became corporate stooges with wives/babies to feed and cloth) and by that I mean the lifetime membership ones, can't organize into an entity, contribute again, and take this unwanted asset back off of Yahoo's hands to end this bullshit.

I bought the lifetime ASE also. I recently just deleted it from my machine since it was doing some really odd stuff. Sometimes I would see ~50 servers for Q4, sometimes ~10, and sometimes none. Too bad really, maybe they will get things sorted out and I will grab it again. Xfire is doing alright for me and ... ... man I hate to say this... Gamespy Arcade (blah) is even better than ASE now.
