I have a brand new PC

It has 400GB of space
It's 3.5 GHz pentium 4 processor
It has 2GB of RAM
It has an ATI 256 MB Radeon 9550 graphics card

..and that's all I can think of right now.. will Q4 work well?

Also, while I'm at it - while playing Q3 if I try and spin round quickly with a quick mouse movement, the aim sight kind of locks.. but if i use a slower more sweeping movement it doesn't lock and I can actually turn around, but only slowly. Is there a way I can sort this?

/sensetivity 0- some huge number. 30 moves really fast and I'm the only one I ever met that uses it.

even with a high sensitivity it locks when i try and spin quickly.. it must be my mouse settings.. but how can i change it?

What kind of mouse do you have?

Your vid card is the bottleneck on that system.

it's a cordless logitech one that came with the PC

i have another logitech one (MX 310) and that always worked fine, but i dunno what it is that does this.. if its the mouse or Q3 or whatever..

Most likely worse. If you went out and got such a nice system why didn't you pick up a decent card with it, like an nvidia 6800? (under $300). :p

Quake 4 will definitely run on your video card, you'll just have to turn down the gfx. I'm runing on a GF4 64mb w/ a lesser computer than you and it isn't too bad.

sounds like the mouse can't process the signals fast enough to allow such rapid movements.

Use a different mouse, especially if you need to make such fast movements.

I absolutely need to have a mouse which can handle fast movements. I have a strong wrist, and even when I flick at full strength, my USB wingman gaming mouse doesn't lose signal traction.

If it's a ballmouse, this could be due to the ball jamming due to friction. If it's optical, could be that the optical engine can't handle those velocities.

In your case, it may well be the cordless issue.
