Edit, heh apparently this is a leaked/misplaced version, the real release is yet to be announced. Weapon skins look nice though.

Have you run it with vertex light yet? Smooth as your girlfriends ass I was slapping last night. :icon26:

Besides, they had a deadline and if the fps boost I feel on my laptop transfers to my desktop, mission accomplished Q4Max team.

baseQ4 looking into the pit untweaked. 13fps.

im amazed at the fps jump I got, but what are light tweaks so I can see something of my surroundings besides weapons and health orbs in vertex lighting?

yer gonna have to use gamma and brightness cause r_lightdetaillevel doesnt doe anything anymore making all the fps maps pointless except for item placement...(not saying it's a bad thing, just sayin')

the gamma and brightness tweaks in the UI. Or check out my config, the settings are in their some where, its in the max fps config thread..

Yeah the fps maps are now obsolete, but the changed item placements in the tmp maps are still gold and seriously improve the maps.

Oh yeah and rgoer, I know you see these posts. Get this vertex stuff into the patch, it is better for everyone that way. :icon32:

Im just stating that if the patch doesnt AND the coming map pack isnt using r_lightdetailevel like the community does THEN i wont tweak that shit again ! ;)
I just ask myself why its called vertexlight ?
And yes plz delete the fps maps, whoever has the maps on his server has q4max or xbm running too, so its unneeded.

Properly LOD'ing your light entities would still be good mapping practice, so people should stick to doing it no matter what :)

surely a proper LOD is better then ambientlight, especially in the future when fps wont matter and people will use shadows to their advantage.So far the community has greatly adopted to the use of lightdetails, it was hinted towards the coming raven map packs.I really eager to know if they use it or not :)

Vertex Lighting option in Q4max now available.

For viewing CPL demos only, Windows only, atm.
Q4base does not provide the vertex lighting option.

Would be neat if some brave server admin installed it on his server.
And posted the server IP.

If you're referring to our server, feel free to vote to any type of mode you'd like. We normally keep it on FFA but it doesn't see much activity because we run ALL of the decent custom maps and with downloads broken it kinda sucks. :( Any recommendations for what we can do to increase the popularity please let me know.

I'd join you but I'm about to run to the CPL competition (I'm in Dallas as is the server).

UZA server works great.
Missing maps cause a clean redirect to the download site.
I downloaded all the maps and now I can check out Q4max07 online. Good ping for me there also. Vertex lighting saves the day.
Saves the Q4 game at leaset.

That said, having to download 16 maps in order to play is certainly a bit of a chore. Sure it just takes a few minutes, but those minutes are slow.

If I had not been enticed by my desire to test out Q4max07, I would probably have not gone through the download process.
But now that I have, I am all set.

Hopefully some entity will fix the Q4 policy of "all maps or nothing", soon.

I agree 100%. Although the server is never locked, it's really just used for uZa folks right now although anyone that wants to go through the trouble is welcome too.

I DID notice one problem with .07 of Q4MAX on servers. I can't seem to perminantly change some of the settings for the life of me. I've edited everything I thought might efect it and things like "si_timelimit" absolutely cannot be changed for some reason? I can change it for the map, but as soon as the next map loads it's back to being at "0". Strange.
