A short story:
Whenever I watch TopGear with my girlfriend, I point out all the cars I really like, or would really love to own -- such as various TVRs, a Weissmann, Audi RS6 and RS4, Morgan Aero8 GTN, Ariel Atom, etc. Her response is always, "You don't need to go that fast, or pay that much for a car."
Last week, she and I watched the episode that featured the Bugatti Veyron. About halfway through, when we were being amazed by Clarkson's superlatives, she said, "You want one of those, don't you?"
I replied, "Not really. That seems frightening, let alone very expensive."
We continued watching for about 10 minutes in silence, when I finally asked her, "YOU want one, don't you?"
She replied, in a seductive wisper, "Yes."
