My sons puter is hosed. Just gets to windows screen and then reboots, just does this over and over. I want to reinstall windows but it won't boot to cd. Tried every possible setting in bios. Unplugged hdd and cd burner and then it says it can't find a boot device. Just wondering if you guys know a trick or something to force it to boot from cd, or another way I can format and reinstall windows. Thank you.

How old is this PC? I had one that wouldn't boot from CD and it was a combination of shitty old motherboard and shitty old CD drive. After trying 4 or 5 different drives I found one that worked.

If it's a burned CD you may need a proper CD.

since you have a cd burner that either it's going t1ts up or mobo's a bit old. i had a old IBM that wouldn't boot with a cd no matter how many cd drives i tried.

seems there are still times when a floppy comes in handy - especially for older mobos.

Try another power supply.

Aye, well I think that is whats wrong with the 2nd pc, not sure but when you press the power button, the button lights up but pc doesn't boot. Then if you leave it like that, at some random time later it will all of a sudden boot up and work for a couple hours and just shut itself off whenever it damn well feels like it. Both pc's are over 3 years old so I'm thinking of combining to make one and then get another one for the other kid.
Thanks !!
