Are you allowed to advertise other websites?

Define 'advertise'.

If it's Quake 3 related, adding it to your signature or making one thread about it (as you already did for your clan site) would be perfectly acceptable.

FreeIPODs or other bullshit websites will earn you the ire of pretty much everyone. I slapped someone down in real life for linking me to one of those on MSN. True story. Dumb cow.

Then why did my clan thread get locked?

Because the likely outcome of the thread was going to be very, very unpleasant.

The common response to 'hey guys check out my clan website' is 'fuck off noob lol'. In fact, usually 1 of the first kind of post will spawn about 100 of the response..

Since we've seen that play out many times before, I would guess that is why your thread was locked. You did deserve an explaination for it though I think.

Why do they always have to ruin it for people. I mean don't get me wrong I love these forums but I hate that minority who ruin it for so many people

because people will use your lack of knowledge of a 6 year old game to attack you, like foo said, and in case there are threads that ask legitimate questions. also, i think i'm supposed to lock/delete threads that i consider spam/don't take seriously. that could be somehow taking it too seriously tho. bizarre.

but anyway, keep it to one thread.
