Problems With Q4E

Post by primaltheory »

Here's my problem, I can bsp the map, it had a crazy leak so I surrounded it in a box of caulk (bad I know but this is very early in map) And when I go to play it in game, the entire level is bright, and you can see floor through walls and stuff, both my maps did this, I don't know whats wrong with them...Here is the one i'm working on atm.

(ah shit no attachment, lemme upload it to my site)
http://hexagram.usfirst818.org/hex2dm.map
MUST SAVE TARGET AS

(didn't feel a need to zip it, it's only 82 kb and it's my bandwidth)

Also, HEY GUYS! I'm new here, used to be a map-center guy, but they died a long time ago (though the admins and random new guys live on?) :icon25:

*also as soon as you know whats wrong, could you message me on aim? I really wanna get back to work*[/b]

"Save target as" isn't working, in Firefox or IE. Place your map in a .zip file or something similar, please?

...I tried to open it without paying attention to the file size and crashed out the editor with:
Lexer: offset: 0 'idMapEntity::Parse: { notfound, found <'

Wheeee! :icon31:
I beat the internet; the end guy is hard.

Oooo sorry, ok lemme zip it up real quick

http://hexagram.usfirst818.org/hex2dm.zip

there, hopefully this one works

suh-weet it works, alright!

(ok the problems I am having in more detail)

with the level un-caulked, i have a leak, it is going through the middle of a wall so i have no idea how to fix it!

with the level inside a box of caulk, you can see through walls, but only certain things, like the lowest floor through one wall etc...

i feel like such an idiot for messing up like this, i used to be a rather good d3 mapper but i stopped like, almost exactly last year and i'm rather rusty

Um.
All I had to do was throw a texture on your brushes. Don't leave them no-tex or whatever it is. The compiler doesn't know what to do with that and doesn't like it.

In other news, since I crashed the editor out trying to open the other .map file, my right-click doesn't work in the editor anymore. Gah.
