Hard Drive Error

A friend with windows 98 did something to his computer and now it wont boot.

He bought a new computer but he wants the data from his old hard drive if he can.

We hooked the old hard drive up to the new computer as a slave, but when we try to access it, it says "drive E is not formatted, would you like to format it now...yes / no"

Does this mean his data is not going to be able to be saved, or is there a way or a program that MIGHT work?

You'll have to switch the partition(s) to NTFS from Fat32 I believe.

No, that's not it. NTFS can read FAT...............but FAT cannot READ or recognize NTFS.
