Does anyone know where to find ydnar's urban textures that were previously available on shaderlab.com?

If you've ever downloaded ydnar's sample maps, you should have grabbed a fraction of them because some are used for those maps.

Ok, I've mirrored these now, I think I had them all, its just the textures no scripts.
If there's any problems with me mirroring them, I'll ofc remove them, but I don't think Ydnar will mind really.

Sorry, shaders, I don't remeber if there were any when I downloaded these, if there were, there are none now ;) You can use them anyway!

Well, its textures, I've used them for HL2 alot. I think they fit more realistc games better ;)

Ah alright, but they look good in hl2? so I guess that means they will look good in q4... where do I put them??

They look better clean in HL2 more than they will in Q4 probably, you might want to add specualr and normal maps for them. But how you do that can be a bit difficult if you have no skills with making shaders and creating spec/normal maps.

Thanks all and especially Hipshot for the fast mirror!

I think your set may be missing some textures, though. :( I particularly remember different road textures with white lines, double yellow lines, etc. But there's some good shit in there nonetheless - even a few from the Majestic set. So thanks!

And no, I don't remember any shader files with the Urban set.

primaltheory: Specular & normal map tutorials are easily found at doom3world.org. Eliminate doubt!

primaltheory, may i introduce you to the search? Or would you rather search the whole internet?

Fascinating what technology can do for you these days.

Also, by magic I can link you to critique.

I've since moved to the part of town where I photographed most of the sources for those textures. A lot of the buildings I originally shot have been torn down in the past couple years. It's all new developments--office buildings, condos, UCSF extension, etc.

I'd love to go back and shoot some of the still-standing buildings with a higher-res camera, and capture enough shots to fabricate normalmaps as well.

I put up some of the photos (and better textures) on my Flickr: http://flickr.com/photos/shaderlab/tags/urban/

ydnar, sir. What happened to shaderlab.com? I read that you knew it was down and were working on it, but no more :(

I'd be happy to host the content that was there for you if you dont want the hassle/cost of running a site/domain?

A friend of mine said he'd colo a box for me to host it, I just need to get it over to him. I've been pretty busy with work+life lately, haven't had a chance to reserrect the old site.

Thanks for your kind offer, sir.

Null problemo :icon31: Now, show us the map that utilizes the set. I don't remember any level with this textures, except ydnar's sample maps.
