can we expect netcode improvement?(patch)

title says it all. is the current netcode all q4 has to offer or can it be improved by leaps and bounds in the future?
currently this is my biggest gripe. i dunno if i'll be able to put up with q4 much longer if they can't get this fixed up a good bit.
~40ms variation in ping times on a good connection doesn't cut it.
added a little poll.

i doubt this game miraculously becomes playable for everyone but having said that i think the netcode is the first thing that should be fixed. that could dispell a lot of the other issues with q4 that turn out to be really just dropped packets or network induced lag, not graphical lag.
then they should fix the fucking sound for me
or not. im perfectly happy playing q3 still.

Heh funny, I would like to see a netcode improvement, some things hit that shouldnt, and some miss that should have hit way to often.

I haven't played enough to be able to judge the quality of the netcode, but it didn't seem that bad. I think fixing the hit boxes (and a load of other things) should be done first.

I remember dreaming that Quake 4 netcode could improve on Quake 3's. Though its so bad atm I'd settle for Q3 netcode.

Yea, I have an amazing connection...and having 10 ping, then 80 ping, just doesn't work...i'd settle for a solid 50 instead...

quake 3's netcode was improved over a variety of patches, i see no reason q4's can't as well.

P4 3.4Ghz LGA775, 2GB Dual Channel Ram, 256MB GF6800 Ultra, 1500/256 ADSL, Audigy2 ZS, bla, bla ...
P4 3.2Ghz Prescott, 2GB Dual Channel Ram, 256MB GF6800 Ultra,
1500/256 ADSL, Audigy2 ZS, bla, bla ...
I leave everything maxed out, don't use r_lightdetaillevel or vertex light or anything, runs sweet as on both machines, online or off.
although I don't have a 250kb/s download in the background, whish I could :icon23:, but I have the fastest connection I can get where I live
