No response from master server? O.o

I'm trying to connect to the internet server of Q3 so I can play online with a friend...problem is when i try to connect, I can't find any servers/games/etc...
I set the server type or whatever as internet, and the game just says "No response from master server" or "No servers found", and to check http://www.quake3world.com...
Help please?

I changed the network settings so it's set to "DSL/cable" or something, and it worked...briefly...then stopped working.
My friend said he was seeing 1500+ games, while I was only finding 36 or so....
And now it's not working at all again(same settings still). Are there network/server settings i'm not finding? What do I need to do to get the dang thing to work? =p
