Hi guys, just wanted to let you know I officialy open eCentral. A forum dedicated to texture making for games.

Some great texture artists from work and I will be around to answer questions and give tips etc.

I will also be doing some tutorials and sharing tips and tricks I've learned over the years to help out anyone wanting to texture for games. I know when I started I didn't have anywhere to ask for help or advise so I wanted to start something that I could do my part to help out in some small way.

I know there's a few texture artists around here in the level design forums. :)

Spread the word and come share your work.
Thanks

I'm not a texture artist, but I'll spread the word anyway. :)

Just in time! I feel like making textures. Plus I have to give my new Wacom 9x12 Intuos tablet some actual paint work to do (as opposed to basic photo-editing).

BTW, weren't you working on some nice gothic set of textures for Q4? How's that coming along?

I'm looking forward to see some Q4 textures by your hand, evillair. The stock Q4 textures are utter crap so the community needs something good.

Wouldn't call them crap. Just all the same theme.

Well, there are a couple of good textures, but most of them just don't tile well at all or are just plain ugly. And of course, they're all the same theme and the whole industrial theme has been done over and over.

I have one set out for q4, 'eX' incase you missed it. :)

I'm also working on a gothic type theme now for q4, quake games needs a gothic theme.

you going to pimp this over at mapcore, or do I need to do it for you? ;)

Awesome start to the gothic set, by the way - really looking forward to what you make out of it.

I didn't want to promote another texture type forum there myself. If you want to do it though behind my back that would be cool. :)

if you knock up a texture set that isn't tech base i might even be tempted to look into Q4 mapping myself...

I've always viewed the site as level-centric with additional sections on texturing and modeling, but I guess that is sort of shifting (or a shift is a goal, at least)... but hey, nothing wrong with multiple resources anyway. :)

Is it just me, or are many of the textures in the evil layer pack download "broken" when viewed in the editor?

I've looked into them today and indeed 90% of them are broken.

Something's wrong with the texture directories in material file, I've got such errors:
WARNING: Couldn't load image: textures/eX/eX_floor_mtl_grate_01_s

And when I change the folder name from eX256 to eX:
WARNING: Couldn't load image: textures/eX256/eX_wall_01_s

Like the new site!

Lukin, here's a mtr file, modified from the original to make work on my rig. Might be overkill, I hadn't looked into what "guide" does...

Thanks, after loading your mtr file everything is ok.
