black screen of death

radeon9500 pro

after awhile q3a blackscreens me and freezes completely after 5 minutes of fun

however quake4 runs smoothly without a prob at all

oh and sorta related, farcry also freezes as a black screen for a moment... then comes back, with the gamma reset to a dark level and back tog ame time

WHAT IS GOING ON

Have you tried removing the old drivers with the Cat. Uninstaller program and installing the latest drivers?

i'm using the new one that's gay and has no control panel

I mean underclock it.

If that doesnt work, get a new card and save yourself the frustration.

if it was supposed to be card stress, then how come i can play quake4/hl2 longer than less gfx intense games as it never blackscreens those games

yeah vpu recover kicked in because your card fucked up. rather than having to reboot the machine, vpu recover resets the gpu, saving a reboot.

have you even tried a different driver version or what?
