I want to open my gfx.wad from my quake 1 game. I tried this wally 1.55 thing and it opened it but it didn't display any pictures. Can someone link me to a .wad explorer so I can get the images?

Well, It opened the wad file like wally did but it didn't display the graphics. And when I tried to move the files out of the wad it crashed. Is there anything else? I'm trying to extract the files used for the quakeguy's face in the hud.

Find an old copy of Worldcraft. That opens up the wad graphics file. I actually might have a copy of that at home somewhere.

Well, it could open the wad. But same as others, it would not display and then it crashed if I tried to move the textures on my desktop. Nice editor though, is it still sold?

No, Worldcraft went ouf of commision years ago. Two years ago when I wanted to get back into level editing (I quit in '98) it was already out the door. I still like it better than the editors of today.

That's too bad it didn't work for you though.

Valve bouht WC years ago, renamed to (Valve) Hammer (Editor). The only way getting it is to get a copy of a Valve game and go via Steam.

the real answer is qart/mipdip/adquedit. These tools are built with editing the quake gfx.wad file in mind
