Any benchmarks available for the ATI Mobility Radeon (128MB HyperMemory)? Reviews etc?

I tried googling, but eh nothing comes up.

Cheers

Not many. I did find one on 3dmark03 but it's written in moonspeak:

Shows it's just a little better than a mobile 9700

I highly doubt that an X600SE is anywhere close to an X600...

128megs of hypermem means that it will share off of your system Ram..

So, take that at Face value.

Ye I am talking about a laptop, managed to sell of the old one I had. Now I can buy this Compaq thing very very cheap, so I am going to just for work and stuffing around. Not really game related, but if the card can run a copule of the older games, that would be good.

The only reason I got rid of the old thing, it weighed about 4.5 kgs, this thing is 1.8kgs. o:

Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (#) (1.73GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB)
512MB DDR (533MHz)
80GB
Dual Layer DVD±RW/±R
ATI Mobility Radeon X600SE (128MB HyperMemory)
14.1" colour XGA BrightView

Any ideas? :icon32:

lol, thanks. ye my old laptop had a MobilityRADEON 9100 IGP. And it ran q3 at 125fps, so I guess this new setup would be rocking.

Yeah, but it has 128mbs onboard, and it will only use off the system when it needs to? (thats how I understood HyperMemory, could be wrong?)

No, No, No,

Hyper memory... uhh, how can i put this. .

the card has say 8-16megs of its own memory.. and when it needs more then that 16megs ( I.e. when you are playing games ) it will Grab some system memory.

cant you look/test the laptop before you buy it? :o

It's a little less dramatic (a Ati X300 256 HyperMemory still has 128 meg onboard), but it is indeed a bit of a rip-off if you ask me... Especially the 128meg (32mb) version... See here: http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle. ... icleid=647

If I was to upgrade the video card, what cards would I be looking at? Any suggestions?

I would look at a X1600 Mobile at least for some serious performance... Either that or anything higher is ok.

But I don't think you'll be needing it. If you only play older games, a X600 is enough.
