I built a map in GtkRadiant and compiled it.

Now I'm trying to load it in Q3 from the console.

This is what I typed: /map rolsonTest1

And this is the Error I received: Can't find map maps/rolsonTest1.bsp

Can someone please help me out?

This is what I typed

/sv_pure 0
/map rolsonTest1

I still received the following error:

Can't find map maps/rolsonTest1.bsp

yes I did

One thing I should note is that in the lower right corner of the console it says Q3 1.11 Which I think is the demo version...

I downloaded the file from a Quake community site and thought I was getting something that would work. Is it possible to test maps in the demo version? I know this is a dumb question but I am an extreme newbie to level editing for games so....

Answers are greatly appreciated!!

Yes I did

One thing I should note is that in the console on the lower right it says Q3 1.11. Is this the right version of Quake or do I need to upgrade?

Bear with me I'm a newbie at level editing for games...

Answers are appreciated!

Would you recommend Quake 4 instead?

imo, to truly enjoy Quake, you shouldn't start at Q4.
