"President of Sony has made it clear that his company has an amibitious new online strategy."

"Cast aside any doubts and start gazing toward skyward, because thats where Sony is aiming with plans that go far beyond simple leaderboards and matchmaking."

"Sony has just delivered the final development hardware to U.S. game developers. We can confirm that developers have already begun meetings with Sony's support teams to make sure their games are compatible with the yet unnamed Online Service."

"Its very real, one source tells us. They (Sony) are dead serious about it. They've declared a full on assault on the latest version of Xbox Live!"

"The online service is being designed to also work with the PSP and its games. Think one, BIG Playstation network!"

Not really seeing as all they have to actually do is..release some games to beat microsoft.

Well Sony have next to no idea about making a good online enviroment. Remember the Online for PS2? It was a joke, slow as hell, could never find any games and even when you could, it was in games you didn't want to play. The original xbox won hands down easily.

So, I fail to see how Sony can improve on the 360's live. They may as well just copy it and be done with it. The only thing they could add, is messenger style chat, which is not needed on the 3d0 because you can have a voice conversation for free anyways, at any time, doing anything... Most people dont know jut how good the new 360 is at playing online.

Like you said (And i think you was getting at), Microsoft just need some good games. Because ATM, they have a very weak lineup of rushed games and ports.

Time will tell once again I suppose. But i've seen far more promising stuff from future 360 "ingame" videos compared son PS3 "target visual" videos. I mean, ANOTHER Metal Gear Solid...? :icon29: Give me the first PSOne game and I'll play that instead :(

I dunno, Im just fed up with rehashing old ideas, with games that look better but play exactly the same... I guess the real winner before its even out for me is the Revolution...

Shut up about MGS, every fucking game so far on the XBox 360 bar 2 is a sequal.

Also I don't really think the ps2s online mode can be compared to the ps2s seeing as the ps2 wasn't really designed around the live system.

The original xbox had just as much behind it for live as the PS2 did, its just it never took off for Sony because it just wasn't much good, in all honesty. Even though the slimline PS2 has a built in network adapter (Something which it should of had out the box IMHO), playing online is just a pain in the ass for the games. It takes ages to log in, it lags to hell and back, the games arn't much good and the performance issues just bring it down even more. The original xbox on the other hand, some how got it right. Its stupidly easy to get into a game, and when you do, you find other people.

Damn right the 360 ATM has sequals and re-release, and its a sad sad shame. But the future looks a lot better for it. Just a shame its taking this long to get good games out. The latest batch, Ridge RAcer and Dead Or Alive, are both REALLY poor. Ridge Racer is a mixed bag of visuals, with a frame rate thats random at best, when it should be stunning and smooth (PGR 3 looks so much better and plays so much smoother). 2 player games on it are a pain in the ass because on certain levels, the frame rate just... dies... Im talking 10FPS and under. It shouldn't be that poor. And Dead Or Alive is just not that good, its a basic fighter with nothing new over DOA3. Once again, visual wise, its just not that good. Comparing it side by side with DOA2 ultimate, its just nearly the same damn game :(

I cant wait for a new batch of GOOD games. Im waiting for Dead Rising, Gears Of War and a few others. But ATM, the 360 really is a bit sucky in terms of what it has out.

Dead or Alive is probably a success in Japan. You fail to realize that it's not meant to be as much of a game as it is a show

DOA is and has always been a shitfighter. Its an eye candy game. Thats what its always been. DOA4 is better eye candy, which is the whole point of it.

If you think its a legtimate fighting game, then you havent really played a good fighter :)

So Ridge Racer, a really, really poor looking game, was "ported" from a console thats not even complete yet.

Ok.

Lets just face facts, they dropped the ball, and rushed it.

Oh yeah, and whats the whole "60hrz only" thing with DO4? You cant play the game unless its in 60hrz...? Eh...? Strange because my gamecube plays fine in 60hrz, yet on the 360, my screen shakes a bit in the corners...?

Thats why its poor looking!
Its being dev'd on another console.
They took the basic code and bits and bobs and tried to make
a quick buck and failed like a mother fucker!

Port or not, its a poor looking game and it runs really badly... Theres no excuse.

Its a sad sad shame, i was so looking forward to it as well. All I think about when i play it now is... "Hey, i have this on PSP...?"

when the ps2 first came out, broadband access and all the other things that make online gaming worth playing weren't mature.

why should sony bother to have invested then? they've got a few quid to spare and they're in it for the long haul - online play can wait until the time is right, y'know, like when the ps3 comes out.

from a nerd point of view, you could say that they should've been sorting out the online side of things with the ps2 from the word go - but business-wise, it's easy to imagine that being a potentially massive fuck up and an unnecessary risk.

xbox hit just a year after the PS2, and the online took off right away.

360 hit and the online more than took off.

How is the online not going ot be ready until the PS3 omes out? Thats a bullshit statement and a half. The xbox was the king of online last gen, with millions of gamers on it at any one time.
