Missing clicks

Lately I've noticed that when I use my Logitech G5 in windows, some left clicks go unnoticed. Like I have to click twice something that is supposed to be only clicked once. I wonder if this is a software or a hardware issue and what might cause it. I seems to work fine in Q3.

The buttons on a mouse are a simple, small-form factor push button. These are one of the most common buttons out for electronics and they just happen to wear out after time. I'd put my money on hardware.

I've only had the mouse for 1.5 months tho... and there aren't any problems in Q3.

My housemate is having a similar problem with a brand new logi mx510

I haven't looked into it, but my first actions would be thorough antivirus/spyware checks, swapping the mouse to another machine, then swapping out the drivers for the microsoft ones (they run fine with MS drivers but you might lose some special button function for the duration.

If none of those 3 steps uncover the source of the problem, I'd consider blaming the hardware.

If you're using the Logitech drivers, remove that shit immediately. Logitech mouse drivers bring nothing but problems and retardation to my computer.

I would have agreed up until about 2 weeks ago when I did some testing and implemented the logitech drivers after first measuring my sensitivity/acceleration.

Then after installing the drivers it was a quick process to get exactly the same behaviour back from the mouse, and I've had no problems since.

Without the Logitech drivers, as was pointed out to me here, you don't get the full optical resolution of the high performance mice like the mx series and upwards.

Don't know if this is related to the topic, but I just bought a Miccosoft mouse [cordless] and after it "pauses" the cursor will move around, but the clicker won't do anything. Have to reboot in order to use it again.

Plugged in another mouse, a corded one, and now it does the same thing.???

Logitech haven't emailed me back yet. I've tried the mouse on another machine for a short while and I didn't notice any missing clicks. This might be a software issue. I've uninstalled the logitech drivers and the problem persisted. I've also reinstalled them, same thing. Ideas on what applicaiton might cause this? My computer has no spyware or viruses.

1. Try another USB port.
2. Clearing the USB VIDs from the registry and then rebooting often helps. I think this MS KB article describes the correct procedure but it has been a while since I last used Windows. Could anyone confirm this?

I've tried another usb port, same shit. The MX-500 works fine, so its definately the problem with the G5.

I've got the same problem, but with a Razer Copperhead. My friend has also got a G5, he's got the same problem as you... Did a new mouse fix it? :(
