Online mag, not actual scans. Meaning they are perfectly fine, because they are just copy pastes from the flash site.

Trust an old mod team to make a game better than 2 long term vet game teams couldn't. I guess its because they are still very much in touch with what we want.

this must be the first properly-lit d3 engine rendered scene in history

What is this? Like battlefield 2 only with a Quake 2-4 theme? Never really played those team oriented squad shooters really so I don't know what they're like.

it's like ET, mission-orientated.

Enemy territory? Haven't played that. Closest thing I've played to it is just the rtcw multiplayer.

RtCW is kinda like that but ET was a whole new area of game play.
ET:QW sees two teams with totally different weapons and classes fighting over objective based terrain, which is 1 square mile in size and upwards. There are "shit loads" of vehicles to chose from, and the classes each do their own thing, be it heal team mates, or even build large defensive structures.
All this team, your fighting with a 24-32 players (Not hard coded, just suggested like Q3's maps), trying to do one thing at the same time as another, working with your team.
The game looks amazing, and its got the gameplay down already. It really is one of those games that DOES need a beta test, otherwise it could end up never being played. The Beta test for RtCW fixed a shit load of things that would of pissed players off if they were in the final.
Oh yeah, and you get two kinds of stats too. Ingame stats which are persistent over the server while you play, allowing you to unlock different abilities such as higher HP, better weapons, you know, upgrades. You lose them once you leave the server though. And then theres your "everything" stats which are persistent over your entire gaming life, which dont unlock anything as such but people can see how many frags you have, what kind of weapons you like ot use most, your accuracy, time spent online etc etc.
Its looking to be THE online shooter of this year. But in UT2k7 comes out anywhere near the same time, it may have some competition. UT2k7 looks amazing also, but also needs a great system. So it could be the Quake 4/Quake 3 battle all over again, with people not being able to play UT2k7 because of the VERY high specs.

It will be interesting to note just how much performance gains megatexture brings to the table. I know a number can be thrown here and there but judging with so much shit going on at the lush environments, it's hard to believe it won't need a pretty beefy rig to run it properly.
There's no way it's going to have the same specs as Q4, but then again...

Well, 3gig of source data for the terrain texture fits into 8meg of memory.
Then you have a single light source for the entire level, with little lights for indoor sections and lights for weapons etc.
TBH it shouldn't be as demanding as Quake 4 is, even though it may seem it. It will just need a lot of ram, 1-2 gig. I would say 1gig will be required.

EDIT: I see a sniper is in for the humans. :]
I have started playing ra3 again, just as big a community as in Q4, better maps, better netcode (WAY FUCKING BETTER), and so on. Looking at this, if it can measure up to the hype so far, it will be 2 words for Raven.
Critical Failure.

I prefere:
"Fuck" and "off".
Coming next, a new Wolf, made by Raven... Early reports state it looks and feels nothing like RtCW, with all of the old weapons returning, none of which look anything like they should.
