I have just installed quake 3 arena on windows xp. Everytime i start on multiplayer it becomes incredibly slow and sometimes i could take a step or two then it freezes up and i have to shut down my computer. what do i need to do?

specs? version? Elaborate more on what version your Quake III Arena copy is, and what computer hardware you are using. Running dxdiag (start > run > type dxdiag and hit enter) will reveal plenty enough

A little extra RAM wouldn't hurt, you have the very minimum now. What brand and model videocard do you have?

It should work on XP, but DAMNIT, running XP on 64mb is murder

With 64Mb ram and a ~150Mb page file, I would imagine the problem is lack of memory.

You can obtain a 256Mb memory stick for that spec PC for a trivial amount of money.

Unfortunately with the PC being so old it could be any number of issues and I for one can barely remember anything about that generation of hardware.
