slow file transfer in MSN

In the network options it says that my computer is connected through a UPnP restricted NAT, so that is probably the problem. UPnP is enabled on my router and the computer is in the DMZ. I'm using the windows firewall, but MSN is an exception in it. It doesnt work with the firewall off either. Anyone know how to fix this?

UPnP is a steam of shit, turn it off. It makes your PC even more vunerable (than it already is, being in the DMZ...).
Slow file transfers are down to your file going through the MSN servers then to your buddy I belive, and I'm not sure how to make sure every file is sent direct.
Try turning off the XP firewall briefly and see if it makes a difference.
Also it might be down to your buddy's firewall settings.

DMZing is only nececerray when you're applying per-process rulesets with a strong software for a server on your network. Otherwise its totally pointless and equally insecure.
